Tacoma container staging: plan a waiting location before the port trip

A recent NWSA advisory makes a practical point for container planning: an early truck needs an authorized waiting plan, not a highway shoulder.

What the notice says

The Northwest Seaport Alliance’s October 28 advisory identifies truck parking on the I-5 northbound ramp shoulder at Port of Tacoma Road as a safety problem. The notice warns that enforcement is possible.

The planning decision

Confirm terminal access, receiver readiness and an authorized waiting location before the truck departs. Arriving early is not a complete plan if the container cannot be collected or the receiver cannot accept delivery.

If pickup and delivery dates differ, a Tacoma staging request needs a separate review of container acceptance, space, chassis time, duration and onward delivery. Do not assume yard availability.
